30-Day Yoga Challenge | Day 24

It’s a new year, a new day, and a new 30-day yoga challenge by Yoga With Adriene is here. I’ve tried to complete Adriene’s challenges several times over the years but last year was my first time actually succeeding. Blogging about it each day REALY helped me hold myself accountable, so we’re doing that again. Welcome to the new challenge, y’all! (I’m amped.) Oh, I got a little crafty and created several graphics to accompany the posts — juu liiike it? The illustration is based off of lerarelart’s on 123rf.com.

It’s basically Wednesday and I just can’t. Nothing is wrong, I just need a little more hours in the day this week. Too may things to complete. 🥴

I almost forgot to blog today. I don’t have anything to say, honestly, I just don’t want to break my 25-day streak. Nighty night! 😝

This weekend came and went by so fast. This entire month did, actually. It’s the last full week of January, my last full-time week of work, and I’m ready to get started working. I mean, I’ve been working all month but I feel like this month has been all about onboarding and staying on top of/getting in the swing of things. This week, I’m going to write up and share my plans for my work responsibilities. I’m eager to have a positive impact, so I really hope things work out. I’m aiming to have a good bulk of my work done by the end of August, which is when my appointment ends. (I really appreciate that I have that deadline to work toward.)

I’m currently watching “The Morning Show” on Apple TV (yea, I’m just running through these shows) and Alex Levy’s, played by Jennifer Aniston, inability to take responsibility for her actions is infuriating. Like, girl, ya attitude is shit and it’s been shit for a while (learn how to apologize to people). She just always looks so confused when people point out one of her flaws. Does she really not see them?!

In season one, she was a complete diva whose nose was turnt so high up that she couldn’t even see other people. In season two, humbling experiences forced her to be on eye-level with people but she still doesn’t seem to see anyone but herself. It’s mad annoying. The conversation that she had with Laura Peterson, played by Julianna Margulies, sent me over the edge. I couldn’t believe how oblivious she was. Talking about Laura needed space when she was outed by her and being ostracized. Umm… If this is your friend and you know she’s going through shit, why wouldn’t be present? Space would be the last thing that I would give a friend going through that. Also, who told you that she needed space? *Sigh* I’m on the second to last episode, so maybe she’ll come around before I get to the end. We’ll see.

I used to take a bunch of pictures back in the day. I would just go around snapping pictures of random people, my family, and I’d even have these impromptu self-portrait moments. What happened to her? The girl that loved to be seen and was always on the scene ready to capture a moment. I miss her. I don’t know what prompted this sudden self-reflection but I suspect that it has something to do with a video that I watched an hour ago. In it, a YouTuber whom I haven’t watched in a while, said she was MIA because she was busy mourning the person that she used to be. Yea, I think that struck a nerve in me.

I don’t feel like I’m mourning but I do feel… something. Last year, I wrote this feeling off as “pandemic woes.” Today, I think it has a lot to do with self-confidence and ya girl is a-lacking. I’m super confident in my career but, personally, I feel like a blob. I know that I am beautiful and my face is elite. 💁🏾‍♀️ What I’m saying is, I don’t feel good or feel like my body looks good. My eating habits have go down the drain and all through the sewer (hello, 2018). And, I don’t mean to be THAT girl (woman), but I be out here feeling like I look like a can of busted open biscuits. ION wanna feel like that.

I’m going to work on ridding myself of this silly feeling, this year. I don’t know to what extent I’m going to document that journey here but I do know that I am going to push myself to feel better. I also want to take more photos in 2022. Here’s the first!

I took and submitted this picture a few days ago for my work ID. I love that I look so regular and pretty, lopsided puff and all. Lol

Sometimes I get so lost in listening to music that I forget that I need to go to sleep. Last night was one of those nights and while I really don’t want tonight to be a repeat, I really (really) wanna keep listening to my music. I’ve been having trouble getting to sleep lately, so it’s definitely within my best interest to go to bed now but I don’t wanna. Oh, the dilemma. Whatever, I’ll go to bed soon.

Today, I ate cheddar Pringles and an M&M’s chocolate bar for dinner, and I don’t why. I made a whole pot of soup last night but I still opted to go to the store and pick that delicious junk up. Meh! I’ll eat better tomorrow.

I don’t have much to say tonight, honestly… It’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so, yay! (I guess.) What do people even do on this day? I’ll look it up or maybe I’ll just start my own tradition next year. Like, maybe I’ll read something from MLK and have a deeper conversation about it with someone. Like an exchange of knowledge type of thing. You know, as I get older, I find myself wanting to know more about Black American leaders.

I mean, I know the basics about them but I want to be the type of person who knows more. I want to be able to speak more confidently on our leaders and historical moments. I’m not sure how that quest is going to go, though. I’m the type of person who won’t remember the date that something happened on or all of the key players — but I will remember how the event impacted others, so that’s something. I’ll also remember how learning about it made me feel; I’m definitely a feelings type of person.

I spent the entire day binge-watching “Foundation” on Apple TV. I could’ve worked on a pattern or cleaned up my messy apartment but all I felt like doing was nothing. Yea, now I’m about to go to bed and aim to be productive tomorrow. Oh, hopefully, y’all don’t mind that I haven’t been talking about yoga much. I’m still doing the challenge, not as diligently as I had set out to, but I’m doing it. I guess I’m just not that into the daily challenge this year.

One of my goals for the year is to be okay with not hitting every mark. Sometimes, I get so wrapped up in the plans that I set to meet my goals that, when things don’t go as planned, I feel like a failure. Life is unpredictable and I need to be okay with that. It doesn’t matter what route I take as long as I get to where I need to be. Right? Right.

Never have I ever been so thankful for a Friday. This three-day weekend it needed and well-deserved. I didn’t get to finish everything that I set out to finish today, but, you know what? Who the fuck cares?! 🤷🏾‍♀️
